«My Lermontov»

About
A person capable of deep feelings, but running away from them. A person "without skin", acutely reacting to any movements in the surrounding world, nature, society ... A person for whom the concept of honor is not an empty sound. An officer, a poet, a suspicious Samoyed and a philosopher confident in his own superiority over everyone…
All this is about him, about the Russian poet Mikhail Yuryevich Lermontov. In the one-man show "Lermontov", director Elena Chernaya and actor Kirill Zaitsev are trying to understand why today, two centuries later, we are concerned about the works of this controversial poet. Lermontov's poems, prose, letters, romances to his words performed by Kirill Zaitsev are not recitation, but pain, doubts, infatuations, reflections passed through themselves. Zaitsev managed, while preserving the atmosphere of the 19th century era, to convey to the viewer the modernity of Lermontov's existential lyrics.
For Elena Chernaya, this is not the first appeal to Lermontov's work. She attracted artists using modern technologies to the production to create a context on stage that complements the actor's performance with new meanings.
An hour and a half alone with Lermontov is an invaluable experience not only for fans of the poet's work. It is also the possibility of a new worldview, a reassessment of established stereotypes. And, of course, for schoolchildren – there is no better way to get to know the great poet for the first time.
