"The Adventures of Fandorin"
About
The Moscow Provincial Theater and the Sergei Bezrukov Foundation present the play "The Adventures of Fandorin", the artistic director of the production is Sergey Bezrukov, the director is Tatiana Vdovichenko. The play is based on Boris Akunin's novel Leviathan, the third book in the famous series of historical detectives about Erast Fandorin.
After the events experienced in the Russo-Turkish War, Erast Petrovich sails on the ship "Leviathan" to Japan, where he is sent to serve as secretary of the Embassy of the Russian Empire. During a sea voyage, Fandorin again becomes a participant in a detective story. The murder of Lord Littleby and his family was committed in Paris the other day. A badge in the form of a golden whale was found in the dead man's hand, most likely torn from the killer. This is the emblem of the ship "Leviathan", which was presented along with the ticket to all first-class passengers. But which of them could have committed such a terrible crime? An investigation begins, suspicion falls on five people who are missing a golden whale. Among them is Erast Fandorin…
Kirill Zaitsev and Anton Sokolov are in the role of Fandorin. Actor Leonid Gromov was invited to play the role of detective Gosha, and actresses Anna Snatkina and Zoya Berber were invited to play Renata Kleber.
Sergey Bezrukov, artistic director of the production:
"Our theater tries a variety of genres and directions. I think that in the playbill of any theater, along with complex performances that make the viewer "work", reflect on the problems raised in the production, there must necessarily be holiday performances where you can relax. It is important, of course, that it be a good literary or dramatic material. We turned to the work of Boris Akunin, deciding that it was time to try our hand at a new genre - detective, which was not yet on the theater's poster. Boris Akunin is very much loved as an author, and the image of Fandorin created by him is loved and does not need advertising. As far as it is possible to shift Detective Akunin into stage language, time will tell. We took the novel "Leviathan" as a basis, but it was important for us to link it with the story described in the novel "Azazel". Because the tragedy that happened to the hero at the end of that story, the death of his fiancee, is the very imprint with which he lives for many years afterwards. He can't forget Lisa. Therefore, the image of the girl, the deceased bride, is present in our performance. And the fight against evil that began in Azazel continues for Fadorin."
