Sergey Polunin. Dramatic ballet "Rasputin"
About
We tend to look for and find villains. But the world is not divided into black and white, so we cannot be completely sure of our assessment. There is a very fine line between Good and Evil, and this line is mobile. Where the light is brighter, the shadow is thicker.
Yuka Oishi, choreographer
Grigory Rasputin is one of the most mysterious and controversial heroes of Russian history. Both the life and death of this man still raise a lot of questions and conceal a huge number of mysteries. A simple peasant who became one of the most influential people in the Russian Empire. Someone considers him a villain, manipulator, sorcerer and even the devil, someone - a sage and a holy healer.
Choreographer Yuka Oishi created the ballet Rasputin especially for the season of performances by Sergei Polunin at the famous London Palladium Theater, where the world premiere of the production took place. Grigory Rasputin, created by Yuka Oishi, combines both positive and negative features. In the ballet of the same name, Rasputin is first of all a man, and only then a historical character.
Sergey Polunin:
Our ballet Rasputin is primarily a story of human relations. All his heroes - Rasputin, the royal family, and Prince Yusupov in it are not abstract historical heroes from books, but real people - with human feelings and experiences.
The original music for the ballet "Rasputin" was written by one of the most talented and sought-after Russian composers of our time - Kirill Richter.
And the amazing beauty of the costumes for the heroes of "Rasputin" was created by the world-famous fashion designer Ulyana Sergeenko.
