VENIAMIN SMEKHOV is a Russian actor, director and writer. Graduated with honors from the Theater School. Shchukin at the Vakhtangov Theater. Since the first days of the Taganka Theater, he has been a leading actor, director, member of the artistic council and co–author of Yu. P. Lyubimov. On the Taganka stage, the most famous roles of Veniamin Smekhov in Lyubimov's performances are: "Anti-Worlds", "The Fallen and the Living", "The Life of Galileo", "Listen", "Rush Hour", "Hamlet", "The Audit Tale", "The House on the Embankment", "The Master and Margarita", etc.; in the play by A.V. Efros "At the bottom"; in the solo author's evening "In search of a genre".

As a director, he has performed productions on central television and in drama theaters in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Omsk, Tallinn, Chicago, Jerusalem, Marseille, Munich, etc. He has staged a number of opera performances in Germany, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, including: "The Love of Three Oranges" by S. Prokofiev, "Don Pasquale" by Donizetti, "The Tragedy of Carmen" by Bizet-Constant, "The Queen of Spades" by Tchaikovsky, "Falstaff" by Verdi, etc.

Author of the books "One Fine Day" (1986, "Soviet Writer"), "Theater of My Memory (2000, "Vagrius"), "Euphorisms (2006, "Petropavlovsk"), "The Golden Age of Taganka" (2012, "Old Cinema"), "Notes on the Wings" (2016, "Old Cinema"), "Hello, however..." (2018, "Old Cinema"), "Life on a Visit" (2020, "Old Cinema"). In 2010 – a three-volume book "That Taganka", "It doesn't happen like that in life" and "Ali Baba and others". The author of numerous dramatizations, the most famous of them: "Listen", "Rush Hour", "Ali Baba and 40 robbers", etc.

The most popular of the movie roles are Smoke ("Smoke and the Kid"), Athos ("The Three Musketeers"), Cure ("A Trap for a Lonely Man"), Ilya Orlov (the TV series "Monte Cristo"), etc.

Audiobooks performed by V. Smekhov are very popular ("The Master and Margarita", "12 Chairs", "For whom the Bell Tolls", "The Queen of Spades", "Viy", "Kolyma Stories", "Walpurgis Night", "Shishkin Forest", etc.).
