Lope de Vega «Dog in the Manger»
About
Hopes and intrigues, jealousy, prejudice and deception, and, of course, her Majesty love! All this is the world of the heroes of the comedy performance based on the play by the Spanish playwright Lope De Vega "Dog in the Manger", recreated on the stage of the North Caucasus Philharmonic named after V.I. Safonov.
A rich and noble lady Diana lives in distant Naples. Many prominent suitors are trying to woo her hand. But the beauty is cold to them. The senora's personal secretary, the handsome and lovelace Teodoro, takes care of his mistress's maid Marcela and soon achieves her favor. But Teodoro does not know that his unmarried mistress has long had ardent feelings for him, and therefore tries in every possible way to upset the relationship of young lovers. Bound by class prejudices, Diana cannot give free rein to her feelings. She will then bring the secretary closer to her, then push him away, well, just like a "dog in the manger"! In this confusion of events, passions and emotions, the characters are completely confused in their feelings. Teodoro's servant comes to their aid – the crafty and witty Tristan, who, not without the help of deception, resolves a love conflict.
The light and bright production is replete with sparkling dances and the beloved melodies of Gennady Gladkov performed by the Philharmonic artists.
