Philharmonic Choir V. I. Safonova
Laureate of international competitions, the V.I. Safonov Philharmonic Choir is a bright and extraordinary collective of the North Caucasus State Philharmonic. Created in April 2012. From the moment of its appearance, the young musical group immediately took a significant place in the concert life of the Philharmonic.
Over the years of creative activity, the Philharmonic Choir named after V.I. Safonov has reached the level of Russia's leading vocal groups capable of representing our country on the world music scene. Currently, it is the only professional choir in the Caucasus Mineral Waters region, recognized as one of the best professional collectives in the South of the country.
The rich and diverse repertoire of the choir consists of works from the Renaissance to the present, sacred music, songs of the peoples of the world, romances, folk, jazz. Every year the Safonov Choir demonstrates its skills at concerts and festivals in different cities of Russia. The choir is a full participant in the annual International Festival of Academic Music named after V. I. Safonov and an indispensable actor in the Philharmonic's opera productions, a participant in symphonic programs.
Among the Philharmonic Choir's creative victories are the performance of works: "Gloria" by A. Vivaldi, cantata "Moscow" by P.I. Tchaikovsky, "Christmas Oratorio" by J.S. Bach, "Requiem" by V.A. Mozart, Symphony No. 9 by L. Beethoven, Mass in B minor by J.S. Bach, "Bells" by S.V. Rachmaninov, "Prometheus" by A. N. Scriabin, stage cantata "Carmina Burana" by K.Orfa, cantata “John of Damascus” by S.I.Taneyev, “Three Russian Songs" by S.V.Rachmaninoff, cantata “Nikola Pirosmani" by Sh. Chalaeva (world premiere), fantasy poem "The Message of an Angel" by F. Arnaboldi (world premiere), Requiem by C. Saint-Saens, etc.
The V.I. Safonov Choir takes part in international music festivals and philharmonic opera productions: G. Donizetti "The Bell", V. A. Mozart "The Wedding of Figaro", J. Verdi "La Traviata", J. Rossini "The Barber of Seville", R. Leoncavallo "Pagliacci", S. Rachmaninov "Aleko", P. Tchaikovsky "Iolanta" and "Eugene Onegin", "Lermontov-Mystery" to the music of A. Rubinstein, N. Rimsky-Korsakov "The Tsar's Bride", J.Puccini “Tosca”, J. Bizet ”Carmen“, "The Bat" by I. Strauss.
Every year the collective demonstrates its skills at music festivals and concerts in different cities of Russia, the main invited guest of the festival “I Sing to my God” of the church choirs of the Pyatigorsk and Circassian diocese, a full participant of the International Festival of Academic Music named after V.I.Safonov,
In August 2016, in St. Petersburg, the Philharmonic Choir named after V.I. Safonov won the 1st degree of the XIV International Festival of Choral Art "Singing World" and the XII International Competition of Choral groups and vocal Ensembles named after Yuri Falik. The jury awarded the collective the highest award in four categories at once: "MIXED CHOIR", "FOLK MUSIC", "SPIRITUAL MUSIC", "MODERN MUSIC", as well as special prizes.
The Philharmonic Choir is a multiple participant of the Moscow Easter Festival under the leadership of the People's Artist of Russia Valery Gergiev.
From 2012-2022,conductor of the Philharmonic Choir named after V.I. Safonova of the North Caucasian State Philharmonic, Laureate of international competitions Alina Mukhamedzhanova.
Since 2022, conductor of the Philharmonic Choir named after V.I. Safonova of the North Caucasian State Philharmonic Society Laureate of the All-Russian Competition Elizaveta Pismenny.
