Panorama
The balcony, the elegant columns, the white fretworks on the walls, Greek mythological heroes` bas-reliefs and great composers` portraits: Glinka`s, Tchaikovsky`s, Beethoven`s, Mozart`s and Verdi`s; the seats` red velvet, the curtains` folds… the whole hall impresses with its beauty and elegance.
In this very hall, which can host up to 700 spectators, could be heard Antonina Nezhdanova`s voice, here Sergey Rachmaninoff played his last concert in the “Mineral Waters” region, a month before Feodor Chaliapin`s farewell spectacle. Today on the ancient hall`s scene, which was given its name in 1992, are played chamber, symphonic and solo concerts by the philharmonic`s artists, but also by guest artists both Russian and international. In Safonov hall are set operas, drama spectacles and spectacles for children; it’s one of the scenes for yearly music festivals.
